Presbyterian Women

Presbyterian Women is a vibrant group of informed and faithful women within First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach. The synergy of combined talents comes from all age groups, which enhances our effectiveness and enables the group to accomplish much. Friendships are deepened and our faith in God is strengthened as we take on ambitious missions to benefit organizations near and far.

PW consists of six circles led by a Coordinating Team of officers, circle leaders, and program coordinators. These positions are held by dedicated volunteers who meet once a month to manage current and on-going PW missions and tasks as well as provide reports regarding their respective duties.

PW meets monthly from September through May. On the 3rd Monday of those months, circles come together in Stanton Hall for our Gatherings which offer an opportunity for fellowship and an overview of our monthly Bible study. We also enjoy a guest speaker from within our church or community who expands our knowledge of communal culture and needs. In addition to the Gatherings, each circle meets individually either at the church or in a member’s home for its own time of fellowship, mission, and devotion.

Each month Presbyterian Women asks the congregation to join us as we focus on the needs of one organization and collect tangible goods to support its mission. We also have two large kitchen projects – baking pies for Thanksgiving and cooking chili and Brunswick stew for Super Bowl weekend – that raise significant funds to support our outreach. These kitchen projects involve lots of women, lots of work, and an enormous amount of fun!!
