Sunday Worship

Palm Sunday

March 28: worship services in-person at 8:30am and 11am, live-streamed worship at 11am via our YouTube channel. Weather depending, the courtyard is also a lovely place to attend worship at either 8:30am or 11am.

For Palm Sunday worship, because we won’t have a procession of palms as we usually would, we would like to prerecord some videos of members waving palm branches to include in our Palm Sunday worship service. From March 10-15, we will have palm branches on hand here at the church for you to pop by and let us get a video of you waving a palm or two! Will you be part of our virtual procession of palms? Put us on your list of errands and come by for a video!

Palm Sunday 2021 “Journey to Jerusalem”

What will Palm Sunday 2021 look like at FPC? There will not be the traditional Easter Egg Hunt after church on Palm Sunday but there will be a new “Journey to Jerusalem” event at 4:00 and 5:00 on Palm Sunday. Similar to our “Finding Jesus” during Advent, we will journey outdoors in small groups from station to station to experience different stories of Jesus’ last week on earth, Holy Week.

At each of the 4 stops you will hear and actively participate in the stories, and sometimes use your artistic skills to create symbols to help you remember the story of Jesus’ Journey to Jerusalem.

We will offer signup on-line to help us manage the crowd. What a great opportunity for families to experience Lent/ Easter. Strollers welcome!

*We also have a rain plan so the event will happen no matter what!

Maundy Thursday

April 1: worship service in-person at 7:30pm with the Sacrament of Communion, live-streamed as well on our YouTube channel. We will remember the stories of Jesus’ final meal with his disciples, and we will prepare our hearts for what comes next on Good Friday.

Good Friday

April 2: online worship available all day on our YouTube channel that will center around a musical piece entitled Stabat Mater by Pergolesi. Stabat Mater translates as “at the foot of the cross” and was written specifically for Good Friday. The work will be offered in its original form for solo soprano and solo alto accompanied by a string quartet and organ. The work is written in movements which will be interspersed with readings appropriate for the day.

Easter Sunday

April 4: worship services in-person at 8:30am and 11am, live-streamed worship at 11am via our YouTube channel. Weather depending, the courtyard is also a lovely place to attend worship at either 8:30am or 11am. Don’t forget to come by and flower the cross that morning!

Please join us on Easter Sunday morning in Greening the Cross before worship! You are invited to bring a few flowers and come a few minutes early for either service of worship to place flowers on the cross. The Cross adorned with flowers and greenery is a symbol of the new life God has provided through Jesus’ resurrection. We invite you to place your flowers on the Cross, which is situated at the corner of Pacific Avenue and 36th Street, so that the life and beauty of the resurrection can be shared with our community.

Lenten Season Sunday School

Beginning on Sunday, February 21 and running through March 21, join Pastor Dee Dee Carson at 9:45am on Sunday mornings on Zoom for a Sunday school class that takes a deeper look at the components of the Lenten devotional booklet. We will take a look together at the art, the Scripture texts, and talk about our own reactions and learnings from the weekly devotions. Contact Rev. Dee Dee Carson for the Zoom link.
