First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach has a legacy of sacred music. Music has been a vital part of the life of this congregation since the first bricks were laid. We strive to continue this tradition by enhancing the worship experience with uplifting music under the leadership of David Kunkel, Director of Music.

Pianist Stephen Coxe, member of the music faculties at Old Dominion University and the Governor’s School for the Arts, joins the Chorale for this exquisite, contemplative program.
VIRGINIA ARTS FESTIVAL – DUO MUSARTS, APRIL 13, 2018 8:00 pm
Two young Spanish keyboard artists formed Duo MusArt Barcelona in 2007 to fill a vacant niche on the Iberian musical landscape: the combination of piano and organ in full-scale concert performance. The husband and wife team of Maria Teresa Sierra, a noted concert pianist who trained at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Raúl Prieto Ramírez, Spain’s sensational concert organist who studied in Spain and Germany, bring to the stage blazing, edge-of-the-seat virtuosity with the precision, sensitivity, and clarity of a premier chamber ensemble. As Le Monde (Spain) described: “They play as with one mind.”
VIRGINIA CHORALE – X.Y.Z., MAY 6. 2018 8:00 PM, ADAM TURNER, PIANIST
Music of the X.Y.Z. generations of American composers (born after 1961) concludes the Virginia Chorale’s 2017/2018 season. Adam Turner, pianist and Virginia Opera’s Principal Conductor/Artistic Advisor, joins Chuck Woodward and the Chorale for a look at what’s new and exciting in choral music of today. And, the Chorale sings a centennial birthday tribute to Leonard Bernstein, “one of the most prodigiously talented and successful musicians in American history” (Donald Henahan). Join us and hear America singing!
